Students in the Security Studies Program can take advantage of numerous academic opportunities outside of the master’s program itself, including joint degree programs, certificates, and study abroad opportunities.
Security Studies students may apply to spend a semester at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. SSP has a long-running relationship with St Andrews and both sends and hosts multiple exchange students every spring. Learn more about the St Andrews exchange here.
SPS students may obtain one of a variety of graduate certificates offered within the School of Foreign Service. Certificates allow students to focus on a particular region or topic throughout their studies. See all of the available certificates here.
SSP offers two joint degree programs: a dual M.A./J.D. program, offered with the Georgetown University Law Center; and a dual M.A./Ph.D. program, offered with the Department of Government. Learn more about the requirements and application process for both programs here.
