SSP Student Council

The Security Studies Program Student Council plays an integral role in the planning and execution of student events, as well as providing a voice of the student body to the administration and faculty of SSP. Since its inception in the Fall of 2013, the SSP Student Council has come a long way in establishing and maintaining an exceptional degree of camaraderie among the students, faculty and administration of the program.

 

While the SSP Student Council is responsible for bringing the fun to our program, we are also responsible for assisting in the educational and professional development of students in the program. Some of the professional events the Student Council has assisted in planning and executing include:
-Student Symposiums 
-Various volunteer opportunities including: 
     
OSS Society Dinner 
     Marine Corps Marathon 
     Holiday gift drives in partnership with the Red Cross and Walter Reed Hospital
     Conferences with various agencies within the Intelligence Community

-A Covert Affair Gala, SSP’s premiere event and annual alumni networking gala

 

The SSP Student Council also hosts various student events designed to build a sense of community within SSP. Some of these events include:

-Weekly happy hours with SSP students and other graduate programs at Georgetown and in the D.C.-area
-Bi-annual flag football games and paintball excursions
-Professor spotlight evenings throughout the semester
-Ski trips
-Trivia nights
-Spring semester Boat Cruise on the Potomac
-SSP running club
-Friendsgiving
