Jessalyn Powell
Program Assistant
Jessalyn Powell is the Program Assistant for the Security Studies Program at Georgetown University, where she supports the center's operations, academic programs, and events to help advance research and education in national and international security. In her role, she handles a range of tasks, from coordinating administrative processes and managing communications to assisting students and faculty and organizing high-profile events.
Before joining Georgetown, Jessalyn graduated from Mount St. Mary's University with a B.A. in Communications, concentrating in Public Relations and Journalism, along with a minor in Fine Arts. Her academic background, which combines creativity and strategic communication, gives her a strong foundation for her work both in professional settings and creative projects. During her time at Mount St. Mary’s, Jessalyn was also a Division 1 diver on the Swim and Dive Team.
Prior to her role, she gained hands-on experience in event planning, graphic design, and social media management. She successfully executed engaging events, created eye-catching visual content, and boosted online presence for several organizations. These skills continue to shape her work at the Security Studies Program, where she helps support its growth and visibility.
In her free time, Jessalyn loves spending time with family and friends, going for runs, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
