Apurva Ramakrishnan

Apurva Ramakrishnan is a second-year M.A. Candidate in the Security Studies Program, with a concentration in Terrorism and Substate Violence. Her research interests primarily lie in Jihadi- Salafi Terrorism and Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) in Asia. At SSP, Apurva is also a columnist and peer reviewer for the Georgetown Security Studies Review (GSSR), and has been an Admissions Ambassador since September ‘23.
Apurva is a proud Indian citizen, though she grew up in several countries in the Middle East. She holds a triple-major B.A. in Political Science, History, and English from Christ (Deemed to be University), Bangalore, India. She was also in the Army Wing of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, where she received basic military training for three years. In her free time, she loves to sing, explore D.C. museums, and binge- watch OverSimplified’s videos on YouTube!
